چکیده

This paper explores the use of Spherical Harmonics to represent the reflectance function of a 3D surface with known geometry. It is shown that reflectance can be conceived of as a convolution in the angular domain. Spherical Harmonics are used to define a frequency domain in which convolution in the angular domain is equivalent to multiplication in the spherical harmonic frequency domain. This representation leads to novel insights into the reflectance function as well as establishes the conditions for inverse rendering.

Image Relighting Using Depth ECE 547 - Final Paper Daniel

This paper explores the new image processing domain involving images from depth cameras. While depth camera are a 2D array of data, the information they store is three dimensional in nature. Given a good depth image, the question now becomes what can we do with this added information. This paper explores the specific application of image relighting. Signal processing techniques of Guassian and ...

A Signal-processing Framework for Image Relighting

This report reviews, in light of signal processing, the problem of relighting a Lambertian convex object with distant light source, whose crucial task is the decomposition of reflectance function into albedos (reflection coefficients) and lighting, based on a set of images and the 3-D geometry of the object from which the images were taken. A reflectance function is the result of filtering a li...

Frequency-Based Representation of 3D Models using Spherical Harmonics

3D meshes are the most common representation of 3D models. However, surfaces represented by 3D meshes may contain noise or some unrequired details. Multiresolution representations and filtering techniques are very useful in this case. In this paper, we propose a new and compact representation for the surface of a general 3D mesh using the spherical harmonics. This representation can be useful i...

Efficient and accurate rotation of finite spherical harmonics expansions

Spherical harmonics are employed in a wide range of applications in computational science and physics, and many of them require the rotation of functions. We present an efficient and accurate algorithm for the rotation of finite spherical harmonics expansions. Exploiting the pointwise action of the rotation group on functions on the sphere, we obtain the spherical harmonics expansion of a rotat...

Effect of transducer mismatch on the performance of spherical microphone arrays

ABSTRACT Spherical microphone arrays(SMAs) were widely used in sound field recording, beamforming, etc. for its advantage of high geometrical symmetry. Many factors could affect the performance of SMAs, including transducer errors. In this paper, effect of transducer mismatch in amplitude and phase on the performance of SMAs was studied through simulation calculation. A SMAs with 64 nearly unifo...
